The awards ceremony was held on December 17, 2025 at the Esch Theatre, bringing together artists, their supporters and cultural players for a powerful moment of artistic recognition.
An ambitious artistic project based on public space and heritage
AFLAA is part of an innovative approach to promoting urban art and industrial heritage. This prize, conceived and supported by the ArcelorMittal Foundation Luxembourg, aims to enable street artists from the Greater Region to transform industrial spaces into open-air canvases. Architectural surfaces belonging to ArcelorMittal have been made available so that artists can transform these walls into symbolic works, visible to all and integrated into the urban environment. The project thus affirms the institution’s commitment to promoting contemporary creativity in public spaces while fostering new dialogues between art, industry, and the community.
A structuring and engaging theme
For this first edition, the artists worked around the theme “The Art of Looking Through – Windows to Other Worlds”, whether imaginary, poetic, politically engaged, or intimate. Each selected artist was required to create two adjacent murals, conceived as unique perspectives onto other dimensions, echoing the raw materials of the spaces provided.
A selection and implementation over several months
The call for applications, launched at the end of June 2025, brought together a diverse range of talent. Interested artists – street artists, illustrators and visual creators – submitted their applications by July 18. Twelve artists selected by the jury created their works between July 28 and September 30, 2025, with production assistance to cover the material needs related to the creation.
The mobilization of the public and employees
The voting phase, open from November 1 to 30, 2025, recorded over 1,800 votes, reflecting public interest in these creations at the intersection of art and urban space. The artists themselves praised the overall momentum of the project, expressing their satisfaction with the visibility it offered and their enthusiasm to continue the adventure at other sites.
The winners of the first edition
The ceremony on December 17th at the Esch Theatre was the occasion to unveil the following awards:

• Public’s award : Sebastian Ynaraja Rodriguez
• ArcelorMittal employees’ award : Marco Weiten
The Jury also awarded a Jury’s Choice to Julien Nuubla, praising an original approach to street art in his composition.
